When I fell in love with a place, I can’t help but grow a certain desire to recreate a similar fun and enjoyment that I encounter during the trip. Sometimes the feeling was born due to an awe for plethora of cool shops near the beach, other times it simply came from warm sensation that you perceive thanks to local residents’ friendliness. This time, my craving to recapture the ol’ good experience goes to this modern, stylish, and comfy hotel located in the middle of Yogyakarta (spoiler alert: I even already had a prior staycation 2 times before).
GAIA Cosmo Hotel is a 4 star boutique hotel exactly located at the centre of cosmopolitan and administrative area in Yogyakarta (10 minutes away from city’s most-visited shopping centre, Malioboro). Featuring a sleek, contemporary design in every touch, GAIA Cosmo Hotel will not only spoil the guests with their excellent services and hospitality, but also the eminence of providing favourable and helpful amenities that will support your business affairs. We’ll get to that latter.
The very first impression that personally pleased me every time I set my foot on GAIA Cosmo Hotel is: how easy it is to do all the check-ins! It is almost common for me to arrive at any hotel and wait for the staff to get the room ready and stuff while I sip my compulsory welcome-drink, but no Sir, it won’t happen in GAIA Cosmo Hotel! Once you check yourself in, they will almost immediately hand you the key and you are good to go.
From the earliest glance, you’ll instantly realize that GAIA Cosmo Hotel is furnished with minimalist and trendy interior that with no doubt fit their image and purpose as an urban retreat. They put an extra attention to shape, color and texture for their overall decoration. There’s a lot of artsy-shaped furniture in GAIA Cosmo Hotel, but to make it even fancier, they also have a real art installation from a local artist here and there that made me feel like I actually walking on a gallery! I guess things are getting better and better.
It was past 2 PM already when I finished dropping all of my belongings in my designated room., so I decided to have lunch right after. Aside from exceptional interior design and relaxing ambience that I mentioned earlier, it turned out GAIA Cosmo Hotel also offers delectable cuisines that ranges from local delicacy to international ones. With consistency to bring a modern and clean concept in every corner, Semeja Asian Kitchen is a perfect place for you to explore an Asian taste in a super cozy and dynamic (and insta-ready!) ambience. I asked the waiter about their specialty and he confidently told me to try Nasi Kemangi. I had no idea whatsoever with his recommendation but decided to roll with the punches.
It was an aesthetically-pleasing dish. After snapped some photos, without further ado I started to dig myself in. Nasi Kemangi is a rice dish mixed with corn, shredded chicken with fresh basil scent and completely served with tofu, tempeh, and fried chicken or empal beef as condiments along with fresh vegetables. The serving is quite plenty and by all means served for 2 people (Nasi Kemangi can be enjoyed by 2 people for only IDR 65,000/net or IDR 115,000/net for 4 people).
And boy, oh boy, do I want to have it all for myself if only my tummy allows me. I must say that Nasi Kemangi is a rather simple dish, and that is exactly how I like it. The rice itself is super savory due to a long and careful steaming process along with coconut milk. With all of the chicken, tofu, tempeh, this traditional Indonesia cuisine just gave me an enchanting feeling of home-made cook daintiness. It was delicious and really delightful.
“Gaia Cosmo Hotel the simply stylish hotel”
Speaking of my room, it is definitely another feature that I’d love to note about. My room is painted with a few neutral key colors. The walls, curtains, furnishings and flooring is sticking to one color scheme, making the room appear more uniform and give it a more relaxing atmosphere. The room itself is in fact well lit (not too bright but bright enough to help the room to appear airy and broad), but I personally love the lighting! Due to the targeting of guests from people in business trip, GAIA Cosmo Hotel made sure that they support their every needs; including decent lighting for work. I found heaps of lamp switch in my room that I can adjust depend on my necessities.
I’m not really into coffee but this time it’s quite good and I could enjoy all the sip I took. I found out that GAIA Cosmo Hotel blend their “only at our house” coffee. Their Inspira Roasters Artisan Coffee located right in the lobby (means that you will immediately intoxicated with coffee fragrance right after you stepped into the hotel), and you will be spoilt by coffee varieties they offer from all around the nation. The process of roasting the beans until it is served in front of you is done in-house.
To my surprise, they also put 2 bags of their very own house blend coffee as a complementary drink in each room! It has a drip coffee packaging, made it easier for me to brew my coffee à la bartender whenever I like. I brew one of the coffee bag in the morning on my second day stay, and it was heaven. Their coffee has a glint of fruitiness that add a little sour taste which to my opinion, is very pleasant. It is flavorful and fragrant.
Like I said before, in order to support all of the business affairs that took place in the hotel, GAIA Cosmo Hotel equipped with a working space that specially took an entire floor. They have 9 meeting room with different capacity, with one special room called The Theater. It was designed to look exactly like a movie theater, with seats available for 72 people and wide screen, perfect for business presentation or about. I myself took some time alone to narrate my experience of staying here in a business lounge that is divided by wood partitions. The room itself has a delicate lighting and a comfortable yet efficient desk. I was very satisfied with the wi-fi connection that allowed me to get online steadily.
I didn’t feel like leaving on my last day here (I honestly already projecting my next visit – probably a couple months from now, haha!). I feel very balanced because I can both be productive and relaxed at the same time. Either way, this staycation gave me a fresh mental and physical strength for me to facing tied up days ahead. While I am here, I love me some swimming and later, maybe a nice bike riding around the city.
