At the end of April, I got a two-day staycation at Raintree Boutique Villa & Gallery. At the initial hearing and seeing the logo of Raintree Boutique Villa & Gallery, I could not grasp the concept presented in this place. But when I walked into the lobby, I was instantly able to catch it.
Greeted by a hospitable receptionist, I proceeded with the check-in process. It didn’t take long to wait. I was warmly escorted to my room. The ambiance at Raintree Boutique Villa & Gallery is tranquil, conform to what they expect can be perceived by the guests.
the Deluxe Premium Room
I spent my first day relaxing while reading books and enjoying the room atmosphere. On the first day, I was in the deluxe premium room; it was pretty comfortable here although just a couple of hours passed. To me, Raintree Boutique Villa & Gallery was more like a private inn, because the number of rooms is not too many. It was very relaxing to linger in the modern nuance room with its well-suited interior design and furniture.
I reckon this is perfect for couples planning for a honeymoon but don’t want to leave Yogyakarta. Anyway, one distinctive feature from Raintree Boutique Villa & Gallery is the paintings which are placed in each room (exclude the deluxe standard room), and they are the owner’s private collections. Another thing that made me feel special when occupying this room was when I opened the curtains, I could immediately see the swimming pool. This room does look minimalist but not plain, because in it there is a pretty spacious sofa. Yes, sofa is my favorite spot when working or just wanting to relax and read a book.
I also found a full length mirror in a unique shape (fyi although I’m not a type of person who likes to look at my reflection for too long). The mattress in the deluxe premium room is also very comfortable; I really like the design of the wall ornament above the bed. Cushion-shaped brown color combined with embellishments like engraving on it, boosts my mood while being in the room. But, if you prefer heritage and classical atmosphere, you can try the deluxe room. The difference is in the deluxe room, almost all the interior and furniture is made of teak wood that has aged more than 40 years.
The sun was beginning to set. It was a bright late afternoon. I decided to try another place to just relax. From my bedroom window, I saw a white small building in the middle of the pool that made me curious to come over. Without thinking twice, I left my room to get there. It turned out that from that place I could leisurely read books while listening to the rustle of the water from the peaceful swimming pool. From there, I could look around Raintree Boutique Villa & Gallery more clearly and I looked at the second floor and found a perfect spot to relax and, again, read books while enjoying the late afternoon. Without a doubt I went upstairs and voila the place was very adorable. Swinging chairs and bean bags are my favorites. It could also be a hangout place with your friends when you’re lazy to get out. And I think this spot is more comfortable in the late afternoon.
The sunlight was beginning to dim, so I decided to go back to my room to just take a shower and change clothes. When I was in the building in the middle of the swimming pool, I spotted a room behind the receptionist with a lot of paintings there. To spend my night, I just looked around to see what was going on there. It turned out that I’d passed that place while walking to my room, but I’d never realized it. There was held a painting exhibition where you could also buy the paintings. Usually, if there is no painting exhibition event, the owner displays his private paintings collection so that guests can enjoy their beauty. Because there were many beautiful paintings, I did not forget to take some pictures. Time wore on very quickly here, my stomach began to growl. And I was joyful because this place has a restaurant named Maximilian Restaurant (read the review about Maximilian Restaurant here).
the Presidential Suite Room
The next day I got a chance to stay in the presidential suite room in the second floor. I reckon the room is pretty spacious. There are a roomy living room, a large bedroom with a curtained bed, and a dining room. What is special about this room is the paintings, the trilogy paintings of the figure of Kanjeng Nyai Roro Kidul by Ida Bagus Indra. This room is very large if you just stay alone. A handy tip, this room is more suitable for family, especially because there is a balcony terrace large enough to gather with family enjoying the late afternoon while snacking.
That morning I enjoyed breakfast in bed with Indonesian specialties menu presented beautifully, but still in a classical nuance since the food was served in clay tableware. To tell you a little bit, that morning’s menu was fried rice, Javanese fried noodles, vegetable pecel, and other traditional side dishes. Don’t worry about the taste and quality since Raintree Boutique Villa & Gallery hires a professional chef.
Until noon I spent my time just reading because I really wanted to finish the book right away. At midday, I felt tired and bored. Because on the second floor was held a paintings exhibition I had seen before, I decided to enjoy it while waiting for the late afternoon to come to play water in the pool.
Tempted by the swimming pool, I was playing water there and ordered some menu at Maximilian. After I felt satisfied playing water though I did not swim, I wanted to spend the night enjoying the atmosphere at Maximilian. I have a favorite spot here, the sofa on the edge of the park. From this sofa, you can see the blue swimming pool, and in front of it, there is a small garden and a mini fountain. The sound from the fountain combined with the green garden creates a calming atmosphere that makes one want to sit longer. I’d recommend in the late afternoon because the wind during that time is cooler (hahaha).
Raintree Boutique Villa & Gallery is an inn with a concept of boutique villa & gallery whose building has been established since 1980, it is located at Jl. Melati Wetan No.42, Baciro, Gondokusuman, Yogyakarta. At first, Raintree Boutique Villa & Gallery was the private home of the owner’s family. Before turning into an inn, it was previously a public art space. Raintree Boutique Villa & Gallery presents a modern concept, yet there is still a combination of heritage and art elements, with the presence of paintings in every corner even in the rooms. The paintings are mostly the private collection of the owner who is a painting lover. During the stay, I felt like staying at home, feeling warm and cozy. I also experienced a sense of privacy, perhaps because in here the number of rooms is not too many, creating a peaceful atmosphere. Painting lovers or those fond of heritage element are surely want to make Raintree Boutique Villa & Gallery as one of their staying options while in Yogyakarta. So many things will inspire you at this place and you will get new and different experiences.
