For those who have read my latest post about Raintree Boutique Villa & Gallery, you must be familiar with Maximilian restaurant. Yup, Maximilian restaurant bring the authentic German cuisine into the Raintree Boutique Villa & Gallery’s menu. It has been my query why should they put the concept on. So, here is the alluring lovely story that I found. As a wife of a German, she is eager to share her experience while she cooked the original recipe from his country almost every day. Those experience that she wants to share with Maximilian restaurant’s guest, yap, food with typical German taste. Don’t worry, Maximilian Restaurant also provides several menus with Indonesian taste as an option.
It was a pleasure to have a chance to try some of the menus at Maximilian Restaurant for a couple of night as I stay at Raintree Boutique Villa & Gallery. Wanna know how their taste was? I’ll try to describe all the food that I’ve tested one by one. Ready to get your mouth drooled? Here we go!
The first menu that I try was Nicoise, one of the salads from Maximilian Restaurant. I could see some lettuce, tomato, potato, cuts of tuna, with hard boiled eggs as the topping of the dish. It was presented in a very beautiful way that makes me feel guilty to eat it. I’m not a fan of salad, but its taste was acceptable for my tongue. Adding a lil bit creamy dressing and let it blend with the fresh scent that came out from the lettuce make it felt soft and chills once chewed.
After that, came the main course, the German sausage. At the first glance, I thought I saw a “snail” in the middle of vegetables and mashed potatoes. Eventually, the snail is a special sausage that exclusively made from veal. Veal is a special kind of meat made from calves, which is way more tender than the regular meat. It has a specific aroma that I have never been smelled before. You could add some sauce if you want to luxuriate your veal. FYI, Veal Snail is one of the signature dishes from Maximilian Restaurant.
And my favorite part was the dessert, Pear Compote. Its presentation was absolutely tempt me up to make some bite right away. I thought this purplish-red pear would be severely sweet as it served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, but I was wrong. Its taste was not so sweet. You can still taste the genuine taste of pear, but at your first bite, you might wonder how this pear is made. The pear felt so special because it was stewed first on strawberry puree. Moreover, there was cinnamon and vanilla crumble as a company, to add crunchiness to the dessert. Try to bite the pear, crumble, vanilla ice cream, and its sauce at once, there will pop a very interesting flavor that I can’t describe. But it was sooooooo lovely and fresh for a dessert.
I was then proceed to the other salad which was named Tomato Mozzarella. I am as hungry as a bear when I wrote this. Loaded with ripe juicy tomatoes, buttery fresh mozzarella, fresh potatoes, and sprinkled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar on top. A cheese lover will definitely crave for this menu because of their big chunks of mozzarella. At that time, I enjoy my salad in the afternoon while dipping my feet into the pool.
The main course of this session is very special and will become one of my favorites, the Grilled Australian Rib Eye which is served with the compliment as we see fit. I chose mashed potatoes, creamy spinach and barbeque sauce for this Grilled Rib eye’ company. For you who rather like smoked tender meat, you have to try to order medium well level. You could see the oil was flowing out from the inside of rib eye, and melted in your mouth. Creamy spinach is also one of my favorites from this menu since it was flavorful. I always adore this restaurant’s mashed potatoes as it is so soft and without question, is tasty.
I got Viennese Apple Strudel for the dessert. As it came to my table, I was drooled to chew it up as I sniff its sweet scent of slow-cooked apples. To add more crunchiness, they bring a lot of nuts on it. Don’t forget their vanilla sauce and ice cream to perfects it sugary flavor. Just like the last dessert, I suggest you to chew all its component at once to taste this dessert in the best way. This dessert is one of the symbols of Austria’s dessert tradition due to their signature pastry swirl and some apple filling that is visible when you cut a slice.
On the last day at Raintree Boutique Villa & Gallery, I had a chance to savor the lunch at Maximilian Restaurant. Hungarian Goulash Soup was the first to come to my table. It brings the aroma and taste of curry, yet it has a different look and component. It was a hearty soup based on traditional Hungarian stewed beef, mixed with veggies and potatoes, while seasoned with paprika and other spice. If you’re fine with curry, I’ll guarantee that you will love this dish as well.
Today’s main course was Ayam Bumbu Rujak (chicken with spices seasoning), an Indonesian cuisine. The special thing about this menu was they got some spinach under the chicken, while it has some cuts of deep fried eggplant as its company. The chicken was flavorful and a bit spicy as it made with spices. White rice is also added to this menu, as an Indonesian dish wouldn’t be complete without it.
The last dessert was Banana Caramel, which was my favorite. The sweetness wasn’t so spoiled even it served with some load of salted caramel. Don’t forget the vanilla ice cream and vanilla crumble as its condiment. It felt like I can’t get enough with just a dish of this. One thing that made all Maximilian Restaurant’s dessert taste so good was they always got crumbles as a company.
There was a new menu which was also exceptional at Maximilian Restaurant, the Indonesian Rijstaffel. As it named, this menu is an Indonesian menu which made from sayur tempeh (tempeh in light coconut milk soup), sate buntel (chopped lamb satay wrapped in fat), mixed veggie, and other complementary menus. It was served with three kind of rice which was white rice, red rice, and yellow rice. If you want to try this menu, you got to make a reservation at least 3 days in advance. You could choose whether it is served for 4 or 2 people.
Overall, my favorite dish from Maximilian Restaurant was all the dessert and their Grilled Ribeye. If you are a fan of Ribeye and a not so sweet dessert, this menu will be convenient for you to try. FYI, their serving size was huge for Indonesian, so it absolutely worth the price. A dessert fan should pay some visit away!
