I’m excited about writing this article because I felt joyous during my stay at this hotel. It was an honor that Eat good sleep well was invited by one of the best and a-five-star hotel in Solo city. Yup, most of you must have heard the name of Hotel Alila Solo which is located at Jl. Slamet Riyadi No. 562 Solo. Hotel Alila Solo is the tallest building in Solo city to date.
The beginning of the story starts from the lobby. Upon entering the lobby, the first impression I got was traditional in a modern feel. It feels very Indonesian, yet is still simple and modern that can be felt through the work from Sucahyo which was poured on a plate made of aluminium and mild steel, stretching like a giant shawl attached to the ceiling of the lobby, with a picture of Gunungan and puppet characters of Mahabarata. The modern taste can be felt from the Alila Solo’s color tone selection which has been applied in almost all corners of the hotel, namely soft brown color. Coupled with the friendliness of the Alila Solo Hotel staff, we felt very comfortable though we were just in the hotel lobby. We happened to have been awaited by one of Alila Solo Hotel staff, so we then headed to the Executive Sky Lounge.
The Executive Sky Lounge is located on the 30th floor of Hotel Alila Solo. The Executive Sky Lounge is used to welcome VIP guests from Alila Solo, so it is no need to take care of check-in in the lobby. The Executive Sky Lounge can also be accessed by guests staying in the Executive Room type and above. The Executive Sky Lounge also provides food menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
In addition, the Executive Sky Lounge can also be used as a business meeting venue, since it has full business center facilities. If you want to just hang out and have a casual chat, the Executive Sky Lounge also provides buffets that you can enjoy anytime. One of my favourites at the Executive Sky Lounge is the Es Campur. Even though it seems like regular Es Campur, but the ice really makes me happy because of its soft creamy but not too sweet taste.
Alila Hotel has several types of rooms. One of them is Alila suite. Alila Suite has a resort concept because there is a private pool in this room type. In addition to the swimming pool which I think is big enough for the size of a room’s facilities, there are also a number of spots for sunbathing or relaxing to spend the afternoon catching the sunset. I really enjoyed sitting in this sun spot because the wind was rather strong, and in front of our eyes, we could see the blue swimming pool, making our mind relaxed, peaceful, and calm. It is even more special because the view from the pool is the view of Solo from above.
The room is quite spacious, which is about 90m square with a soothing wooden brown color. Alila Suite has its own living room and there is a large separate dining table. I think Alila Suite is suitable for honeymoon due to its complete and more private facilities.
Almost noon, I was taken to Alila Spa to enjoy the Signature Javanese massage for 60 minutes. The products used in Alila Spa are natural products that are all homemade from Alila. In addition to massage, Alila Spa also has other facilities such as plunge pools, saunas and steam baths. I really like the interior concept of Alila spa which looks modern, clean and simple with a blend of blue and brown wood color.
After having a massage, I got the opportunity to experience bathtub soaking in Alila Spa accompanied by a very beautiful view of Solo city. It does not only calm the body but also calms the mind and spirit by soaking while looking at the Solo city from above.
Time showed dinner time. We went to Epice, which is located next to the lobby to enjoy dinner. Epice is the main restaurant of Alila Solo, where guests usually enjoy breakfast. The typical brown nuances of Alila Solo decorates the interior of Epice. Food served in Epice alternates between themes within a certain period of time. At that time Epice was presenting Indonesian food. It felt more Indonesian because there was live music with Indonesian folk songs. I was on cloud nine because in Epice I met again with Es Campur whose taste really boosted my mood. There is no doubt about food taste in Epice; it fits perfectly with the Indonesian tongue.
Overall, food in Epice has a strong taste. Perhaps because at that time it was serving Indonesian cuisine. The taste is very balanced and appropriate. I think Alila Solo is a hotel with the most delicious taste of my version so far, because it fits perfectly with my taste. The service is very satisfying. The variety of food is great, ranging from salads, main courses, desserts, drinks as well as fruits that are very complete. I tried almost all the menus that were served that night and kept pacing back and forth to try other foods until my stomach was very full and my tongue was also satisfied by the taste of food in Epice.
In the morning, before starting another activity, I went to the Executive Sky Lounge. This time to fill the stomach in the morning. Every day at the Executive Sky Lounge there is a light breakfast for those of you who want a light meal and don’t want to feel too full. Enjoying breakfast while looking at the view of Solo in the morning made me really enjoy lingering in the Executive Sky Lounge.
On the second day, I was taken to the Presidential suite on the 27th floor. The Presidential suite is the largest room in Alila Solo covering 200 square meters. What remains the same as the other Alila Solo hotel rooms is the brown wood nuance. There is a dining room separated from the living room, office, private meeting room, full service pantry and even there is a walk-in closet. Corridors connect parts of the room. What’s interesting about this Presidential Suite is that on each side of the room there are many glass walls to see the beauty of Solo city from the 27th floor with views of Mount Merapi, Mount Merbabu, and Mount Lawu.
The door in the Presidential Suite is somewhat unusual. We usually find a door to connect the bedroom and bathroom. It’s different in this room type. The door insulates the living room and the bedroom. But before arriving in the bedroom, we have to go through an alley that passes through the walk-in closet. After that we see the main bedroom; behind the bed there is exactly a bathtub that is partitioned only with a glass screen with Semen Prabu’s batik motif. I reckon if you are alone, this room is too spacious, but it is perfect if you hold an event attended by more than 5 people.
Before enjoying lunch, I was invited to experience one of the Alila Experience namely Sky Garden Tour. Sky Garden is on the rooftop of Alila Solo. It is a place to grow organic vegetables used for the basic ingredients of most food and beverages of all restaurants in Alila Solo. After taking a walk in Sky Garden, I was invited to feel the second Alila Experience, Javanese Masterchef in Epice, learning to cook with one of the chefs at Alila Solo Hotel.
I was taught by chef Maskuri to cook chicken soup in the style of Alila Solo Hotel. The chef warmly and patiently told me about the used spices and the steps to cook chicken soup. In fact, he also shared some tips on cooking chicken soup. One of them is never hesitate to put the spices, especially onions because the delicious aroma of chicken soup partially comes from the onions that are sautéed until smelling nice.
Just finished cooking chicken soup, we continued our lunch in the same place, Epice. Besides enjoying the chicken soup that we cooked, we also ordered several Indonesian food menus such as rawon and a few drinks. There is an interesting drink menu in Epice and one of the specialty drinks from Epice, namely Jamu Mocktail.
Almost noon, we were invited to enjoy a relaxing afternoon at Largo. Largo is a pool open for public that is equipped with a cafe by the pool so you can order foods and drinks to be enjoyed at the available spots in Largo. Largo is on the 6th floor of Alila Solo Hotel. I think Largo is very comfortable because of its neat design, with gentle breezes, so I often call it the “beach”.
I was even happier because I met my favorite Es Campur, always at Alila Solo. Besides comfortable and relaxing for the afternoon, Largo is great for you to show off your OOTD here. It is one of the places in Alila Solo that you must visit.
Before sunset I decided to spend the afternoon at Agra Rooftop. It is the highest rooftop lounge & bar in Solo city, located on the 29th floor of Alila Solo Hotel. Agra rooftop serves a variety of drinks such as cocktails, mocktail, wine, and spirits whose ingredients are mostly self-made organic ingredients. Its top menu is a variant of tapas, a variety of Spanish snacks.
Oh yeah, there are some special conditions for you to enter Agra Rooftop; you need to follow the dress code, no sandals and no shorts for mutual convenience. You can enjoy the sunset views from the rooftop with a direct view of Solo city from the 29th floor, which is very calm and relaxing.
And yes Alila also has products such as massage oils, body scrubs, facial scrubs and cleansers, bath salt, body milk, body spiritz, lip balms, scented candles and natural insect repellent named Alila Living. You can find Alila Living in the lobby area and Largo. You will also find it in each room as one of the facilities of Alila hotel. Alila Living’s products are made from the best quality ingredients and most importantly all are free from parabens, sodium laurel sulphate, petrochemicals, synthetic substances and artificial color of fragrance products. Everything is available for you to recreate your unique Spa Alila experience at home.
I was so happy to have the opportunity to stay in Alila Solo for 2 days. I want to share a little why I was pleased to be in Alila Solo. In addition to the friendliness of the staff serving in Alila Solo, every room also gives the same comfort even though it is of a different type. I wanna say that this is one of the hotels with luxury services. The luxury I mean here is not just in terms of facilities that are visible to the eye but more because of the service and taste of food and the vibe of Alila Solo that gives us a sense of comfort. To be frank, my appetite to eat while having a staycation at a hotel was back in Alila Solo. Even my mouth could not stop chewing and chewing (hahaha). I really felt that I was staying on vacation, being a guest, even though at that time I was actually working. Overall you have to stay in this hotel if you are in Solo city; it is not just comfortable, the food in Alila Solo is also the best, especially the must-try Es Campur. I will definitely return to Alila Solo for its Es Campur!!
