Hi everyone .. Finally, after 6 months off, now I can write another post for eatgoodsleepwell.com once again. I’d like to tell you a glimpse of my busy life for this past 6 months. Somehow, I am currently working at a skincare company in Jogja. It’s been quite hard for me to buy some time writing articles but.. Voila! I’m back! Hopefully, I can write more often to share my experiences while staying in unique places, just for you.
Here we go. To begin our first story after this past half a year, I found a hidden gem by the city of Yogyakarta named Alamanda Villas. Honestly, this is my first time to hear about the villa and surprisingly the location is not far from the center of the city. You will not expect it only takes 15-20 minutes to drive by car to Alamanda Villas.
Why do I say that Alamanda Villas as a hidden gem? All pictures I post will explain you everything. You’ll see a different athmosphere right there even though not so far from the city center, the scenery around the villa will spoil your eyes with greenery which surrounds its villa. Even under your room’s terrace you can enjoy rice fields right in front of your eyes.
Especially from my room which called as “Joglo”, you can enjoy the view of Mount Merapi in the morning right through its terrace. In addition, you can see farmers planting rice in traditional way (in certain months) which is quite rare now because currently many rice field owner prefer to work their fields using machines. The rice fields around the villa are also managed by Alamanda Villas and employ these farmers from Alamanda Villa’s local communities. This is a good concept by involving the surrounding community.
Unlike in other hotels, breakfast at Alamanda Villas are quite different because it will take place at the lobby of its owner’s residence, the friendly Mr. Frans. You’ll be accompanied by the staff, Awe and Nani. Don’t hesitate to ask them if there’s something you need during your stay. “Don’t be an Indonesian/an east person, just say what you need”, that’s a message from Mr. Frans when we stays at Alamanda Villas. The breakfast menu was simple (They’re my favorite menu every time I stay anywhere) like omelet, scramble egg, sunny side up, bacon, cereal, various cheeses, etc.
In the older times, Alamanda Villas received more foreign tourists than domestics. Most domestic tourists came from outside of Yogyakarta. Therefore Alamanda Villas provides city tour packages around the city of Yogyakarta complete with vehicles as well as tour guides. Have some peek on its website for further details. In addition, there is a family room in the form of 1 building with 2 rooms connected by a connecting door. The family room has a larger bathroom than the other room with a bathtub plus a window with rice field view.
Alamanda Villas also has a restaurant named Rosella Easy Dining within 300-400m walking distance. You can go through the main road or just cut the road behind Rosella Easy Dining. I personally prefer to go through cutting roads because it gives me its own experience and other sights. A warm welcome was given by Chef Richie Subarjo and the team and tables that have been decorated in such a way using local materials that can be found around Rosella Easy Dining.
Before we talk about the food, I wanted to tell a thing about the atmosphere at Rosella Easy Dining. It’s semi-outdoor themed restaurant with rice fields views that planted along with corn. A breezy afternoon makes you feel like you have spent the twilight in this place with Javanese jazz nuances. Because I’m a twilight connoisseur, Rosella Easy Dining is one of my favorite place. You don’t have to worry about the food, FYI Rosella Easy Dining is the Top 5 of the best restaurants in Yogyakarta on TripAdvisor, so there’s no doubt in terms of taste. The special thing about Rosella Easy Dining is that the food they serve is not too spicy because most of the guests here are foreign guests.
Rosella Easy Dining has a quote, they make all the dishes “fresh a last minute”, which allows you to change from rice to potatoes or vice versa. Everyone has their own favorite type of food, so if you want a western menu that might not be in their menu, Rosella Easy Dining will make it according to what you want when the ingredients are available at that time.
Okay, It may be too long for me make an honest review after 2 nights there because I really enjoy staying at Alamanda Villas. Initially, I did not have any expectations of Alamanda Villas especially when I came from the office and I felt tired. As I arrived there, I saw just a few buildings in the middle of the rice field in the form of joglo and with a small road.
As I enter the room there was no expectation until Mr. Frans warmly welcomed me and show me every corner of the room. Do you know, the bathroom in my room is open air! Very unique! Creepy? Absolutely not. The location here is safe and there is no sense of terror at all. Mattresses and pillows are very comfortable, make me sleep so well. The breakfast was as I told you, I really like it! The floor is clean and not sticky at all! I really feel like I’m not in Jogja but somewhere comfy, especially for me who is now working from Monday to Saturday. Alamanda Villas gave me a short vacation which meant I would work fresh on Monday like someone who came home from vacation.
Overall Alamanda Villas is a great place to stay for couples to spend their honeymoon or families who want to spend their time with all of their existing facilities. It is also recommended for you who works and had not enough time gone for vacation but want to experience rural atmosphere and which felt far from the city and all its business, I recommend this because it is definitely suitable for you to relax enjoying the beauty of nature.
Last but not least “Everything is possible, just tell Alamanda Villas to make it happen for your vacay! Have a nice day!
